Biscuits for your Holiday Celebration

Once again we offer free local delivery for a dozen or more regular sized biscuits (or 2 dozen minis).  We have lots of scrumptious flavors, both sweet and savory, to add to your holiday soirees, office parties, or family gatherings.  Just tell us what you need and we will work with you.  If you need them for Christmas, you need to order by Monday morning (December 23).  We will be open between Christmas and New Years for anything else.  Email us at honestbiscuits (without the space).

Holiday Goodness

We have some great Stuffing Mixes this holiday season.  Our classic Buttermilk Sage crouton dressing is made with organic sage that we dried ourselves.  The MacGregor Stuffing is made from beloved MacGregor biscuits with Bavarian Meats Bacon, Beecher's Cheese, and caramelized organic onions.  We add a bunch of other yummy seasoning.  This year, we are excited to introduce Gluten-Free Stuffing Mix.  We did not add to much to this one to accommodate people's food sensitivities, but we can certainly give you pointers on adding more seasoning.

Of course we also have plenty of biscuits for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, or even this years special Thanksgivingukkah.  We have Butterholes, Pike Places (with cheese) and Sweet Potato.  If you order a dozen or more, we will even deliver them to you in Seattle for free!

Best of the Northwest

This art and craft fair, put on by the Northwest Art Alliance, will take place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (November 8-10).  We will be there each day at 10 am with fresh regular and gluten-free biscuits and hot coffee from Seven Coffee Roasters.  We will be at Hangar 30 in Magnuson Park until 6 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 5pm on Sunday.  Check out some great art and grab a biscuit.  This is one of the few times we serve freshly-baked gluten-free biscuits and this weekend marks the return of the Sweet Potato Biscuit, here and at both markets on Sunday.

End of Market Season

As the days grow shorter, head on out to your neighborhood farmers markets while you still can.  Renton is over, but there is one more Madrona Market on Friday.  Columbia City Farmers Market runs until October 17.  Of course, if you are lucky enough to live near West Seattle or Capitol Hill, the West Seattle and Broadway Farmers Markets run year round each Sunday

Beast Fest

Sorry that this event was canceled, but it was beyond our control (Saturday, September 21, we are going to be participating in a fun event.  Beast Fest celebrates the men and women who get their hands dirty working together to raise the cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens and bison on local, sustainable farms and ranches right here in the Pacific Northwest.  There will be plenty of food and music, including Ray Wylie Hubbard and the Picketts.  The fun will take place from 5:00 until 11:00 pm at Pier 66 on the beautiful Seattle waterfront.)

More Gluten Free

We are regularly introducing new flavors of gluten-free (and rice-free) biscuits.  We have made MacGregor and Honey biscuits.  We have also made Strawberry and Mom's biscuits (apples and cinnamon).  Next week, we will have Double Berry biscuits (with local organic raspeberries and blackberries).  We cannot keep all of these flavors at every market, but we will have a variety.  Stop by and see what we have.  If you are looking for something particular, you can always email us and we will bring something specific for you to a market.  Or talk to us about having them delivered to you.

Getting Busy

The farmers market season has commenced and we are all over it.  We started at the Columbia City Market a few weeks ago and will be there every Wednesday.  This week we start the Madrona Farmers Market every Friday afternoon.  In a couple of weeks, we will also start the Renton market every Tuesday afternoon.  Yep, it will be a busy summer.

Also coming up, we will be selling some biscuits at the Northwest Folk Life Festival on Memorial Day Weekend.  This runs from Friday to Monday, May 24 through 27.  This is an amazing free festival with lots of great music, crafts, and (of course) food.  Stop by and see us.

Gluten Free Pike Place

We now sell gluten free biscuits filled with chunks of Beecher's Flagship Cheese.  Yep, we have the gluten free version of the beloved Pike Place Biscuit.  We sell them at the markets frozen.  We do offer singles, but the 4-Packs are a much better deal.  Find them at the West Seattle, Broadway Farmers Markets, and Columbia City Farmers Markets - as well as other markets as they open for the season.

We finally did it!  We came up with a recipe for Gluten Free Biscuits that we could be proud to call Honest Biscuits.  You will be amazed at the flavor of these scrumptious biscuits. Because we bake them separately, we only sell them frozen in 4-packs, but the biscuits taste amazing when thawed.  We have them each week at the West Seattle Farmers Market, or you can buy them any time from Zaarly.  Zaarly offers free delivery to your home or office on Tuesdays or Fridays.

Return of 2 Favorites

For long time fans, you may remember from last year two special biscuits that are now part of the line-up.  For the next two weeks, the Kilt will be front and center at West Seattle.  We start with corned beef from local Market House, chopped up throughout the biscuit.  We add cheese from Mt Townsend Creamery - their Off Kilter cheese, which is washed with Pike Brewing's Kilt Lifter Ale.  Then we toss in some of the ale itself, just to make it fun.  A few green onions and some horseradish make this baby flavorful.

The Mom's biscuit is a customer favorite and will be sticking around awhile.  Not too many local fruits in season this time of year.  But this one will warm you up with some local apples cooked with cinnamon and brown sugar.  If you do not eat it at the market, you might want to take it home, warm it up, and put some vanilla ice cream on top of it.  Yum.

Where do we get all these Super Ingredients?

If you have been following us, you know that Honest Biscuits is constantly adding different flavors based upon the seasons.  We are often inspired by the farmers markets where we sell.  Even during the winter, there are awesome fresh ingredients in the markets. People are a little sad when their favorite biscuit goes away, but you can look forward to biscuits coming back around throughout the year as the seasons change.

We recently added a tab to our website listing the sources for our ingredients to emphasize our support for farmers and other local food producers.  It was a fun list to put together and made us proud to work with all of these great folks contributing to the great local food scene here in Seattle.
